OUR SAFETY POLICY

Our Health and Safety procedures are second to none and we ensure that we have the most rigorous and suitable equipment in place to deal with all recognized hazards. All our staff have been trained to the highest standards possible and by working with a external company we have a first class health and safety system in place, which is being developed on an ongoing basis. R Baker (Electrical ) Ltd has been accredited by CHAS and UVDB Achilles which review health and safety procedures on a yealry basis.

UVDB | Achillies

R Baker (Electrical) Ltd is now a member of the Utility Vendor Database (UVDB) run by Achilles. This scheme provides a "qualification system", as defined by article 30 of the EC Utility Directives, for organisations buying products and services in the Utilities sector.

UVDB membership is a three stage process.

Identify and Qualify: Supplier information is gathered and checked in areas such as health & safety, financial performance, environmental policy, CSR, products and services data.

Verify: This stage focuses on Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ). This benefits buyers by providing them with a single, consistent source of supplier SHEQ information allowing the performance of different suppliers to be easily compared. This also allows R Baker (Electrical) Ltd to ensure that we meet the highest standards demanded by the industry.

Monitor: UVDB membership isn't a static thing. Both suppliers and buyers can provide feedback through the system to help build more productive relationships. This is an on-going process that provides buyers with information about the performance of suppliers on actual projects rather than simple assessments.

ABOUT CHAS

Principles and Purpose

Each month thousands of contractors and consultants (suppliers) apply for work with public and private sector organisations (buyers). To win work, they must meet the buyer's health and safety standards.

Assessing suppliers health and safety competence is usually a lengthy and time consuming process. Suppliers can sometimes meet one buyer's Health and Safety standards but not another. Being CHAS approved reduces duplication as suppliers compliance is accepted by all CHAS buyers.

CHAS assesses applicants:

Health and safety policy statement

Their organisation for health and safety

Their specific health and safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to our buyers and to others.
