We are here to help design, modify or even reverse engineer any electrical defence equipment to any agreed design features of your specification. Our understanding and experience of military standards allows us to modify designs to meet any new or changing requirements which may emerge. Our team have the ability to develop military prototypes and issue in-process CAD drawings to assist with the design process.

Being a specialist electrical manufacturer and repairer based in Liverpool (UK), we can offer an on demand service with fast quoting and manufacturing lead times. Our electrical manufacturing division works across a wide range of industries and have serviced the defence, rail, nuclear, marine and commercial industries since 1981. Our electrical maintenance and repair service is fully comprehensive and offers a first class service to the defence and marine sector.

We are proud to be the sole manufacturer of the flood lighting transformers for the new Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers being built for the British Royal Navy.

Defence Electronics

R Baker (Electrical) Ltd repairs and reconditions electronic equipment across a range of industries, working with leading clients in the marine and military sectors from our repair facility based in Liverpool. We offer a full industrial electronic repair and calibration service including NSN products.

Our PCB testing and inspection capability supports our electronics manufacturing processes to help ensure that customers receive working products on time, every time. Each electronic refurbishment comes complete with an electronic project folder which is created to ensure that all relative documents and certifications are traceable.

Our electronic inspection and testing service includes a visual inspection of all electronic components, carried out by our highly skilled electronics team, to assess the action needed for the PCB testing and inspection process.

Reverse Engineering

Most of our work in the defence sector involves reverse engineering obsolete military items and providing a certificate of testing where required. Here at R Baker (Electrical) Ltd, with over a quarter of a century's expertise in military servicing, we have the knowledge necessary to deliver the electrical projects which others turn away.

All of our products pass through our quality control system, and are tested to the highest standards using state-of-the-art equipment. Our investment in new methods and technologies allows us to offer expert reliability when repairing or manufacturing any new products.

Defence Transformers

All of the military transformers (NSN / NATO) which we manufacture and repair for defence applications fully comply with the shock and vibration requirements of NES 501 and DEF STAN 02-535. Our type tests also include self-induced vibration and EMC requirements for military vessels, and selected products have been shock tested by an MOD approved agency (QinetiQ).

Transformers are hard mounted to bulkheads and decks, and do not require shock mounts. All equipment is manufactured to a minimum of IP23 of BS60529 and to Cat.2 Shock Grade C. Units are naturally air-cooled, and mounted in IP rated enclosures.
