Is obsolescence a problem?

Manufacture and repair service for Obsolete items

Across all sectors obsolescence  is a very common occurrence and with rapid changes in technology and software this is a major problem for many components in old equipment. It is highly important to implement and operate an active management of obsolescence to mitigate and avoid extreme costs. However it is not always possible to forecast components that may or may not be obsolete before they fail.

This is where R Baker (Electrical) Ltd can help; our engineering team have worked with obsolete items for many years. Working with leading Defence, Rail and Offshore clients has offered us exposure to a wide range of obsolete items; including coils, transformers, reactors, DC chokes and control panels to name a few.

We have daily contact with the Rail sector dealing with obsolescence, helping with the manufacture and repair of old components which are no longer supported by the OEM. We work from old drawings to manufacture new electrical and mechanical components or reverse-engineer to produce identical replacements for the component which has failed. Furthermore a large part of our service is sourcing and repairing damaged equipment, ranging from contactors, coils, armatures, transformers and motors.
