R Baker (Electrical) Ltd’s extensive experience with float glass technology has allowed us to work on very large projects, supporting some of the biggest glass names in the industry. Fives Stein, NSG (Pilkington Glass) and Saint Gobain Glass are among the company's we maintain close ties with across the world.
In 1959; Pilkington Glass developed the float glass manufacturing process, taking flat glass technology to a ground breaking new level. Inline with this our in-house team have designed and developed a range of 6 and 12 pole and drosser linear motors for the worldwide float glass market. In addition, we also manufacture control panels and transformers for use on the float glass process.
Our fully equipped manufacturing facility based in Liverpool (UK), is staffed by experienced electrical engineers. Our understanding and experience of the glass sector allows us to modify designs to meet new and changing requirements that emerge, with the ability to develop prototypes and issue in-process CAD drawings to assist the design process.
All our quality standards and procedures are monitored independently to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 and are subject to regular external and internal audits. We also work with all the leading testing and quality authorities to give you total peace of mind.
Services and features:
We have design and manufacture many different types of float glass linear motors, with and without control panels, and moveable chassis mounted linear motors.
Linear induction motors are frequently used at the inlet end of the bath. They control the transverse temperature distribution across the bath by maintaining transverse tin flows from the centre towards the sides of the bath.
