How healthy are your transformers?

As transformers age, the probability of failure increases, but with a proper condition assessment and maintenance program, transformers can provide reliable service for years, even decades more than the average life expectancy.

With the right maintenance and reporting, you can make the critical decisions necessary to extend the life of your transformers. These decisions could be the difference between planned, cost-effective maintenance and life extension solutions or expensive responses to preventable disasters. Make informed decisions by knowing what is happening with your critical assets. This can be accomplished through a comprehensive condition assessment program, like the one R Baker (Electrical) Ltd offers.

Military

All military transformers (NSN, NATO stock numbers, a series) we manufacture and repair for defence applications fully comply with the shock and vibration requirements of NES 501 and DEF STAN 02-535. Our type tests also include self-induced vibration and EMC requirements for military vessels, our entire range has been shock tested by a MOD approved agency (QinetiQ).

Transformers are hard mounted to bulkheads and decks, and do not require shock mounts. All equipment is manufactured to a minimum of IP23 of BS60529 and to Cat.2 Shock Grade C. Units are naturally air-cooled, and mounted in IP rated enclosures.

Marine/Offshore

We manufacture and repair marine transformers for some of the biggest names in the business, and have manufactured transformers for commercial vessels, ocean-going yachts and specialist marine vessels. Working with the leading offshore companies, we have developed our range of transformers to be used in the arduous environments of oil rigs and other areas with high levels of vibration and humidity. All can be supplied for use in hazardous areas enclosed in flame / explosion proof chambers.

All our marine work can be carried out to military standards or hazardous area standards and are credited to the related manufacturing authority.

Other industrial standards

We liaise with leading industry standard authorities including hazardous area specialists to meet their standards and testing requirements for every industry we work in. Our highly skilled team manufactures transformers for Rail, Glass, Nuclear, Offshore and Chemical industries, which all require different exacting specifications, and can meet any requirements you may have.
