Marine Transformer

Military

All Military transformers we manufacture and repair for Defence applications fully comply with the shock and vibration requirements of NES 501 and DEF STAN 02-535. Our type tests also include self-induced vibration and EMC requirements for military vessels, our entire range has been shock tested by a MOD approved agency (QinetiQ).

Transformers are hard mounted to bulkheads and decks, and do not require shock mounts. All equipment is manufactured to a minimum of IP23 of BS60529 and to Cat.2 Shock Grade C. Units are naturally air-cooled, and mounted in IP rated enclosures.

Marine/offshore

We manufacture and repair marine transformers for some of the biggest names in the business, and have manufactured transformers for commercial vessels, ocean-going yachts and specialist marine vessels. Working with the leading offshore companies, we have developed our range of transformers to be used in the arduous environments of oil rigs and other areas with high levels of vibration and humidity. All can be supplied for use in hazardous areas enclosed in flame / explosion proof chambers.

All our marine work can be carried out to military standards and are credited to the related manufacturing authority.

Other industrial standards

We liaise with leading industry standard authorities to meet their standards and testing requirements for every industry we work in. Our highly skilled team manufactures transformers for Rail, Glass, Nuclear, Offshore and Chemical industries, which all require different exacting specifications, and can meet any requirements you may have.

TESTING TRANSFORMER CASE STUDY

In 2008/2009 we worked with a testing facility to provide a tailored solution for the testing of bus bars and associated equipment. In collaboration with our customer we designed, developed and manufactured a high current test-rig, which comprised of a 70KVA 3 Phase transformer with 8000A output; and a remote control facility. We also manufactured a heavy duty, moveable mounting table for the transformer.

The result was an extremely flexible, effective and elegant solution to the challenges presented by high current testing.
